Drivers are contractors because Uber/Lyft is a BROKER. That’s the important part that everyone keeps leaving out.

They are clearly contractors. By established labor law, there is no conceivable way they are employees, which is why California had to pass this special law to begin with.

I thinks this is mostly for the clicks......it’s a weird topic of posts, for sure

If Raph had owned a Cimarron as a kid, or always wanted one but couldn’t afford one, I would understand it. I just don’t see anything compelling about this bike, and I don’t know old mountain bikes enough to know if I should. Was the Schwinn Cimarron an aspirational bike 33 years ago? Based on his posts, he just

Oh, confound it, man, are you afraid of success?

“No one could have predicted this.” - Raphael Orlove

Raph, buddy, I’m all for keeping old crap going if you can. My college commuter was something literally pulled out of a scrap pile. But at a certain point you gotta admit defeat. There’s only so much you can do to polish a turd. We’re not talking about anything particularly exotic or old or rare here, just basic-ass

Gotta say, not totally sure what the appeal of an old mountain bike is. Everything about them is worse than a newer bike, but not in the good way a vintage car is. And $150 will get you a decent used bike.

You know you’re a Jalopnik writer when your first thought is ‘maybe I can spend more money and buy a ‘new’ 30-year old frame and part over my 30-year old components’ instead of ‘I should go buy something actually new.’

No, it says “I don’t want to eat the full depreciation on a car I’m only planning to have for a few years.”

My neighbor has two 2017 Lexus LX570s that he OWNs.

Wait. What. Sorry i’m stuck on this comment “My 3-year lease is up in January. In a normal world, I would just get a new 3-year lease of the same model vehicle.”

Also, let’s consider battery size for the contenders:

Wouldn’t a better measure of efficiency be distance traveled vs battery size?

It’s not a tanker, it’s a bulk carrier being used to carry iron ore. Bunker fuel is the fuel supply for the ship’s engines and generators. That’s why it’s “only” 1,000 tonnes.

A tanker would’ve far far worse. Large and ultra-tankers can hold 300,000+ tonnes of crude.

I never understood the purpose of fashion stores in airports. I (used to) travel a lot for work, and outside of restaurants/food and convenience store type of shops, never step foot in any of those mall stores. Like who the hell is going to just buy a wilsons leather jacket randomly inside an airport? Maybe a pair of

Here are a few pics taken from my garden (the ship is roughly 10km away), the first one taken shortly after it ran aground:

Volvo. Hands down for cars currently on the market.... and I’m a BMW wagon owner.

Eh. MERCEDES CLS wagon. Or Volvo V60 T8 Polestar?

Mine is not an M3, but it has LSD and wet Pacific Northwest rains and MT6
