If they run and drive, they are worth at least 2k each

Has this site always been hoarder-centric or has there been a significant uptick in this sort of post?

If anything it holds fire to the pants of the rest of the industry to get moving on the EV train.

I can certainly agree with that. It’s absolutely possible to think the CEO is a twat, think their stock price is absolutely ridiculous, but also be impressed by what they’ve done with their products. They leave a lot to be desired in my mind as far as design and fit & finish go, but the technology is very impressive.

Is pure profit your benchmark for success? Its easy to hide profit when you’re building giga-factories, multiple global manufacturing facilities and a nation wide infrastructure that only supports Tesla vehicles. Showing a huge “profit” at year end isn’t always the smart goal.

“They need to stop cutting so many fucking corners, full stop. The CT4 is a joke compared to even the outgoing A3 , let alone the new one or the A4 right above it. Ditto the BMW and MB equivalents, and ditto every comparable vehicle type at every price point.”

I don’t get how so many people on Jalopnik have such little

Now playing

The thing is the Model S hit the market in 2012. Eight years later no one else built an EV yet that matches the range and performance of the 2012 Model S.

You mean like they turned a profit during Q1 2020? And Q4 of 2019? And Q3 of 2019... They almost did so in Q2 and had COVID not happened almost certainly would.

I expect the news to get worse. The Covid-19 pandemic is picking up speed in the US where too many people resolutely refuse to take even basic precautions. It’s not often you see an entire country invite the reaming, but we’re doing it.

Perhaps if dealers would stop treating their inventory like Faberge eggs, this wouldn’t be so bad. I know that inventory is lower than normal, but you still have to price a vehicle such that someone actually will buy or lease it. I’ve gotten $1250/month quotes on loaner E trons, $650/month quotes on a $48k Jeep Grand

My dad’s a grandpa, and he would totally buy a car like this.  Shopping for an older XKR now.  I hope when I’m a grandpa I have an endless parade of cars like this - drive it until I get bored, rinse and repeat.  Keep a nice pickup around for regular duty.

People who are grandpa’s age are probably the ONLY people who still run radar detectors.

Unemployed man in Manhattan buys a$50k Jeep pickup for his startup? That is just so goddam stupid. A $7k used Odyssey would have been an infinitely better choice for a catering company. Plus you can live in it once you can’t afford your $6k a month apartment and $500 a month parking spot.

I may once have made the foolish statement on this website that I would never give a Mercedes an NP. Today was the day that I had to give up on my convictions and become a lying liar.

For $5,700, this needs to be your summer sled. Even during COVID times, I’m telling you, this thing is exactly what you need. I had one of these when I was living in St. Pete, and let me tell you something: I was still only marginally successful at attracting women.

When I googled “orange peel” this came up. I was looking for the (effect) page, but some Wikipedia editor is doing the lord’s work here.

I always thought it was both. It’s a turbo 6.

So you’re saying my car is basically a Porsche?

I had a Solara with the 200hp V6 and a 5 speed and it was a great car for late teenage to twenties. Was it meh? Maybe a little but if you optioned one right with leather and the spoiler it was a pretty sweet ride. Plus you could pack 3 or 4 friends in easily and go on adventures. In base spec and in beige as
