The 4wd class at Dakar mandates much smaller tires which help keep items from breaking. Also, Baja is an all out sprint so the abuse dealt out is much greater. Also, less wheel travel.

I have a crane operators license and if anything falls off 9 times out of 10 I will be the one to blame. It’s my job to secure the load.
I’d argue that knowing how to properly secure the car (even more important when dealing with a potentially damaged vehicle) is absolutely the job of the crane crew. Even if you have lift points, it still seems like you’d secure it elsewhere as a backup.
