People probably didn’t see the point. Pokemon Go’s gameplay loop makes a lot of sense. In the traditional games you go around, catching Pokémon, and then training them for battle against other people or in Gyms. Go lets you do all that, and the Pokédex spurs completionists just like in every other Pokémon game.

What Niantic seems to not realize is the reason Pokemon Go was such a hit is that the game play of these kinda games fits the world of Pokemon perfectly.   Harry Potter is not about running around hunting monsters.    So it felts like a theme glued onto a game play styles.  Pokemon felt more natural
