I live in ward 3, amongst a bunch of rich old people and American U students. I got an invitation to join Next Door from an unnamed neighbor. The main appeal was to “post and read about suspicious activity in the neighborhood”.

That’s part of the “opportunity” money buys.

I’m not convinced that there’s a significant difference in “financial literacy” between rich and poor people. Rather, I think it has to do with whether or not your entire life goes belly up the moment you make a single mistake.

No amount of financial literacy, forced celibacy, or misogyny is going to make 1500 of take home pay a month pay 2000 worth a bills.

Speaking as a longtime teacher, if your class is “distracted” by some kid’s hair, you need to step up your teaching game. Kids get distracted. They’d rather be doing something else. Deal with it.
