I can't believe I'm giving a backhanded compliment to Bill O'Reilly but I think Sean Hannity is much dumber than O'Reilly.

I always get Hitler and Gandhi mixed up.
I think Sound city covered that topic with enough depth already.
Actually, more than a few of the most recent ones were semi literate defenses of Cosby that are so poorly written that they almost read as sarcastic. I suppose this is what you mean by "fun"
I think people like John Lennon's music and its message (post beatles) but he was usually described as sort of an asshole as a person. He also made public statements (barely) much later in life acknowledging and apologizing for this behavior. While that doesn't excuse any of it, its not like Bill Cosby's response…
Breitbart itself does that to me. The comments just answer the question "who reads this shit?"
Alchohol
Yeah that makes no sense since they evolved pretty rapidly and had a number of different sounds. And in college, I probably would have at least thought about not hanging out with him. But as an adult, I don't care about these differences nearly as much (provided I'm not trapped in a car on a long road trip with…
Its certainly a lot more listenable than Poeme Electronique.
Yeah well I personally don't think anything on the album is too weird but I don't think they're super straightforward either. Even the two that you mentioned. I guess I always thought that the National Anthem was a song that wouldn't sound out of place on OK Computer, which was always the criticism at the time (that…
I could be incorrect but I'm pretty sure you're doing it wrong.
As someone from NJ, I know there are always exceptions (the Feelies, Kool & the Gang, some guy named Bruce). Real Estate is from my hometown. But its also produced a lot of crap. In the 80s, for every Smithereens, there were four Trixters.
Bon Jovi was inevitable. My father's lawyer's son (seriously) was a drummer in a band in the early 80s. They kicked out the lead singer because of his terrible ideas and taste, who happened to be Bon Jovi. Not too long thereafter Bon Jovi poisoned the world with their crap while the drummer eventually formed a band…
There is a difference between being a music nerd and being an asshole music nerd.
We probably have different definitions of tyranny. I don't see someone offering their opinion, as wrong as I might think it is, qualifies as tyranny. Arrogance and stupidity is a poor combination, but its easily ignored or argued with.
The rest of the beatles agree with you. And so would John Lennon. He didn't think of it as a "song" either. But I really don't see any connections between that and the National Anthem, which is probably the least weird song on an album of weird songs.
But this was also a terrible show when I was 8. Actually, after a quick look, I was 13 when this show started so may be I was a bit too old but it was still horrible. And I even knew who Bob Saget was from the HBO young comediens show (with a bunch of other comedians who became famous). This show made Growing Pains…
I feel this way everytime I meet someone who "hates" the beatles. You don't have to like them, or agree that they lived up to their hype, but hating them just seems like a bullshit opinion intended to piss people off.
Worrying about it is a lot different than basing my own musical choices by it. And then writing about it.
I don't know if I'd use the word tyranny to describe this. It certainly exists, but so does self confidence in your own opinion, as well as the ability to ignore people. I like a lot of odd and seemingly unrelated music. I even make fun of myself for it sometimes but I don't actually care what anyone thinks about…
