he's probably running on AMD or a slower Intel. Rendering speed doesn't slow down from changing the operating system, that's down to the cpu. It also comes down to general knowledge of your computer. Mine doesn't crash ever unless I did something dumb during hardware install.
unless you're on more than two R9 290s you're not gaming at 4k comfortably, at least not anything more intensive than Dragon age. If you built a Mac, we call that a hackintosh. It's still a PC build.
