Her name was Karen. And for once she had proof that scientists were inflicting tracking devices.

Poor left wing extremists  using sexual orientation as a weapon as if it was bad. How homophobic to use it as a weapon

Police and political leaders seem powerless to do anything about the protesters (or maybe they’re just supporters)...

Its not targeting “black and latino” areas, its targeting high crime areas.............

Before we continue

I’m not even sure what “complete data” would look like. That is to say, what’s missing that would increase the accuracy of the predictions?

This article mentions researchers coming up with a proposed algorithm change that would create “a more even distribution of crime predictions”, which sounds great except that the

I’m confused.

“The software often recommended daily patrols in and around public and subsidized housing, targeting the poorest of the poor.”

Is there any evidence to indicate that more complete data would produce a different set of results?

Once you realize that people are deciding to live in a fantasy world, alot of this craziness in the world today more sense.

There’s nothing racist about pointing out that statistically, kids from two-parent homes are more likely to be successful in life. Neither is it racist to point out that statistically, Black children are dramatically more likely to be born to single moms.

We don’t help these kids if we ignore the data—and if we don’t

That’s the issue, isn’t it? People are doing more and worse things wrong in these neighborhoods but admitting that would be “racist,” so in turn it must just be the stupid system that’s racist, not the shitty people in these neighborhoods.

That’s a tough order when your poor neighborhood comes along with a significant increase in your chance of being shot by a magnitude of 10.

Then by that reasoning we would see far more violent crime in trailer parks and majority white high poverty areas...yet we don’t. Most of the crime is low level drug and property-related, not murders and rapes which are far more prevalent in minority communities.

I didn’t get to read the whole thing yet, but isn’t more police in your neighborhood a good thing?  I pay tax so that they police my neighborhood to keep my neighborhood safer.  If you’re not doing anything wrong, you should be happy about having lots of police.

Now playing

If you speak to people in these communities, they want more policing
(https://www.newsweek.com/81-black-americans-dont-want-less-police-presence-despite-protestssome-want-more-cops-poll-1523093)

I’m not sure why we need to continue to tip-toe around the idea that poverty fosters more crime. If we take for granted that we’re going to use predictive software, wouldn’t it be silly for it to not take socioeconomic status and poverty into account? Otherwise it wouldn’t be that good and people would be saying “look

Something I’m not following... Several of the disparities mentioned are of higher levels of patrols in Latino, poor, etc. neighborhoods. Isn’t that exactly what people want? I don’t even have a GED in policing, so pardon my ignorance, but it seems like a historic, legitimate, complaint is the under-patrolling of

About all the NAZI stuff our Smithsonian displays, or that which we exploited to win the space race... Does not make us NAZI’s or sympathizers... bad bigoted assumption. I happen to like the Mitsubishi Zero and would surely jump at the opportunity to own one (would make a better civilian / airshow airplane than most
