I don't understand why people keep describing the series as a mystery. It's just an incomplete view, which is how life works. You experience what happens, but don't get any "answers", because there truly aren't any.

I enjoy shows which inspire me to laugh.

I didn't interpret it as an insult.

Because there is no "we".

"Good guy" and "bad guy" are some corny ways to interpret characters. I expect some level of conflict, but I don't understand why anybody roots for characters or takes sides.

There are areas of impressive craft and originality, even though it is flawed. You could think of it as getting an extra letter grade based upon effort.

Maybe because evaluating the quality of a thing does not depend entirely upon how much one happens to personally like it,

I think it's the difference between using a medium to depict something, and hoping for people to relate to it. The former is I think more like a realistic story, whereas the latter seems to be what more people prefer because it induces different states in them. People like to be fooled into feeling that they are

It allow more space for reflection than trying to induce specific emotional states in the viewer. So there's less pretense, and it's more dignified.

Couldn't it be that the organism is only programmed to act as if how long it lives matters?

There are only ever "twists" in one assumes they can predict the story, but I am not convinced that there is any compelling reason to do so.

Why is that significant? Wouldn't such a drive towards subjective self-preservation then be obsolete?

They are simply telling their story - it is only a mystery if you make it one. You could try just interpreting it as it comes rather than trying to outguess it. That's your call.

The bullets can change their velocity and density as they go, so they can impact with either full force or a damped effect as needed.
