youd think by now they would implement some sort of trusted buyer program like ticketmaster does for some concerts. Register in advance, first come first serve, and you get a scheduled purchase time. Maybe next gen.

and lets not forget kabuki warriors (which came out 4 days later). Definitely agree xbox had one of the best launch lineups ever, possibly other than dreamcast.

i know it came out 4 days later, but we really should consider kabuki warriors a launch title for the o.g. Xbox. It was included in those launch bundles (for those that dont recall, all preorders required you to also buy 3 games) and in my heart remains one of the most ridiculous launch titles ever.

it subsidizes the functional ad-ons coming (new characters, missions, raids, etc). Those will all be free, seems fair to me.

ive been playing this with friends since launch, and noticed that none of the reviews call out the one thing that makes this game so special, namely that it has so many emergent moments in the combat that make you feel like youre in an avengers film.

Spiderman’s campaign was similar length, you spent as much time as you did doing side challenges, collectibles, exploring, etc. This game has a similar amount of side attraction, plus all the DLC missions and characters will be free.

Disney has been doing this for decades with their home video releases. The Disney vault let them constantly make a big deal out of re-releasing classics on bluray and dvd, I can see Nintendo testing a similar approach.

So whats not called out in this article is all the functional stuff (characters, stages, events, raids) will all be free. Development and live services dont pay for themselves, so if the mtx is reserved entirely for cosmetics, this is 100% fine in my book.

Missed the mark on this one Alexandra, completely get that “someone asked me to write this”, but does it need to have such a shitty and dismissive tone?

Killer Cuts is arguably what got a ton of kids into electronic music, and some of the songs are still sampled to this day. You might not be a fan, but to write a hack

agreed, the soccer one is the absolute worst, followed by all variants of tail grabbing.

thomas was alone has my vote. plays great, story is amazing, and i’ll never stop being amazed at how much the game makes me emotionally invested in quadrilaterals.

SNES games were almost $80, Super Metroid was 74.99. We forget how expensive games used to be, especially accounting for inflation.

collectibles are there because its a low dev cost way to pad the content. what drives dev cost is environments, characters, narrative, and gameplay content thats one and done. It’s why Sean Layden is saying 12-15 hours of narrative would meaningfully drop dev cost.

Not quite true. They were up to $80 in the SNES era, then PS games were actually closer to $40 as a competitive price point (CDs were way cheaper to print than cartrigdes and savings were passed onto consumers). Then they went up to $50 for Xbox and PS2, and then $60 for PS3 and 360.

SNES had some of the most varied

“Is there another answer?” “prices have remained stagnant at $60 since PS3". Isn’t that your answer? accounting for inflation, games have never been cheaper, and yet likewise have never been more expensive to make.

This is ridiculous, I feel like in this case the showcase and accolade is pretty significant, and also meant to be open to everyone. If a kid wants to submit their idea and it’s creative maybe they have a chance of winning.

that was a partial remaster made as an XBLA title. This is a full remaster of 1 and 2.

If youre planning on buying PS4, might worth holding off until they announce if there’s any for of smart delivery equivalent. Note the lack of any language on the matter in their announcement.

weird the test post got put on mainpage

Looks awesome, just wish it could store more than 3-4 games to swap between... 1TB really isnt much storage at all in an era of 120GB+ games
