I always maintain that fear is a boring emotion. You can be afraid, and you can be pants-shittingly afraid, but that’s about it. So a good horror movie needs to bring complexity and plot goals or good characterization into the mix to really be memorable.

I definitely had the thought that Guardians is the spiritual movie child of Star Wars. You could slap this criticism up on almost any Ridley Scott film and it would ring true. Dude is an amazing filmmaker but a terrible script/dialogue writer.
