I generally liked both, but the show has indeed ironed problems with the books.

Hah! Exactly what happened to me: I loved the premise, was very unimpressed with the book. I'd check out the series anyway because Matthew Goode, but it's good to know it's a better experience.

OK, I watched the whole thing on Sky One here in the UK. No, I’m not about to reveal spoilers, just want to comment that - if I had to describe it in 3 words, they would be a) slow b) bluish-grey c) unsatisfying. (OK that’s 4 words).

Did not read the review, have not yet watched the show, but am here to show my general support - can’t wait to view!!!

I devoured the whole series of books in two weeks after learning about the show’s adaptation. The series tends to slog a bit but I just feel like it was Harkness just taking her time to establish this relationship, and in the end I loved it (though yes it does have hiccups). And keep in mind Harkness had not read any

You just KNOW they’re really praising her lack of perspective and priors to compare them to.

Thiiiiiiiiis.

It's like they're subtitled! SO transparent.

He says 25, but I’m reading this as that’s his upper limit.

Trust me when I say, gain weight and you’ll become irrelevant at any age.

I’m a woman in my 20s. I wish old shitgibbons like Moix would leave me alone.

I have a 25 year old daughter and she thinks guys over 30 are creepy. She can’t be alone in this. I am of an age where I am invisible to all men except the husband. Although there is some beauty in this, I could do without the dudes who don’t seem to see me sharing the sidewalk with them, exiting the train, waiting on

I know men like this. They think their partners should give them a handshake and a blowjob everytime they pick up after themselves.

Netflix seasons tend to exist in misshapen lumps, averse to things like “pacing” or “episodes.”

I really liked Chris Hardwick for a long time, although not recently (not any particular thing, just kind of stopped listening to the Nerdist podcast/etc). I thought that his standup was reasonable, and that the Nerdist podcast was pretty neat. He seemed...weird, but I thought it was just him being earnest, and

There are some people who go to the mat to defend men no matter who they are

Dudes like my older brother: Mid-to-late twenties/early-30s, not so much fans of the geeky stuff but like him for @Midnight and Singled Out. In fact, I’d argue that his fanbase was less the nerds and more among the Warped Tour crowd who graduated high school in the 90s/2000s, spend their friday nights at Chili’s happy

This so much. I loved TWD in the first 3 seasons, but never understood the after show. NEVER. It adds nothing.

I can’t speak to who Hardwick’s fans are now. I abandoned ship when Dykstra’s essay came to light. Her experiences rang true for me (as they did for many), plus his friends didn’t stand by him publicly, and AFAIK have made no moves in his direction, despite AMC and NBC ostensibly “clearing” him.

It’s the same group of people who thinks you have to be “REALLY, REALLY SMART to understand RICK AND MORTY”....those people who aren’t getting fucked by women.
