Trump, like Louis XIV, believes “L’etat c’est moi.” Unlike Louis, this isn’t so much a principled statement of purpose that helped direct and guide the Sun King’s actions, as it is that Trump really is that tiny and hungry of a human being. It’s less a statement of ideology, and more that he’s incapable of saying

I am a psychologist. He has clear narcissistic tendencies, and this is a classic narcissistic defense. Your profile of him is accurate - he doesn’t think in terms of right/wrong like normal people. He only registers what is a threat to his ego and what is not a threat to his ego. And he lacks the range of personality

Nervous Nancy. That’s devastating. Hear that, Nancy? You’re devastated.

Going to have to defend 15 year old’s here.

Trump is pulling out of Syria. I... I can’t believe it. This isn’t just irresponsible. This isn’t just negligent. This isn’t just reckless. This is high treason, an activity with which Mr. Trump is very familiar.

You’re making a mistake about 45. You are assuming he can, in any way, shape, or form, identify with anything outside himself. His definition of Treason can only mean personal betrayal of himself. Literally. This is how this man thinks. He does not care or even register the legal or constitutional definitions of such

This is the double-edged sword of involving ourselves in foreign conflicts. It is—on several levels—beneficial to our interests to intercede on behalf of our allies (though whether that intercession should be military or not is generally best handled on a case-by-case basis—and the answer is also generally “no”).

The

Because that is the base of the Republican party: It’s a cultural complaint in search of a political solution.

The death struggle of a madman and lunatic. He projects all his crimes on others and by that he makes it only worse for himself. He is too stupid to realize that.

But they don’t. They are ornery children, who have hitched their wagon to this ornery child's, and they're going with him NO MATTER WHAT.

That Trump’s entire public-facing strategy appears to be “take me seriously, but only when it works in my favor; when I stick my head firmly up my fourth point of contact, I was obviously doing satire” would be, in any sane world, as damning an indictment as any Presidency would need to be entirely written off.

The man

The whitewashing is more a function of historical amnesia than it is any real desire to put Dubbya on a pedestal, I think. The American electorate—broadly speaking—has the attention span of a meth-addled toddler, and a predilection for rosy coloring in their nostalgia goggles, particularly when faced with something

Except for the rampant lawlessness, Bush was actually a much worse president than Trump. That is a big "except" though.

One of the things I resent the most about Trump is how is bombastic awfulness has generally made people forget how odious Bush was. Bush is a goddam war criminal, but his image is already being rehabilitated just by virtue of not being Trump.

Well, and once the team made the horribly shitty decision to play RGIII in that playoff game with a knee barely held together with duct tape - and to no one’s surprise completely fucked his knee - they made sure to talk nothing but shit about him.

Nick Saban: I think Coach Swinney would be an excellent hire for the Washington Redskins. Best of luck.

Possibly the only nice thing you can say Snyder is that he clearly isn’t bothered by black quarterbacks (Campbell as well)

I just get the feeling Hugh Freeze will "lead" Liberty to a 6-6 record and a bowl game and get the Skins job for it

Man, Dabo Swinney’s gonna have his hands full with this mess once Dan Snyder convinces him to leave Clemson and take the Washington job.

On the bright side, Europeans speaking in German but pausing to say, “Vat the fahk?” in English indicates that America’s role as a global leader is not so tarnished that it can no longer inspire other nations to aspire to this Shining City on a Fuckin’ Hill.
