I was confused about what year this even happened in! I haven’t been paying attention to the news and didn’t know the fires were this year.

Was there an introductory paragraph that got left out? I can understand pulling people straight in with the horrifying specifics but you’ve got four straight paragraphs of talking about this like everybody already knows the basics of this event.
