Generally liked the movie, but it’s telling that the same people praising it as a bold, new take on the franchise are disappointed when anyone offers a whiff of criticism and dismiss most of it as bad-faith trolling.

Bending over backwards to handwave away legitimate criticism of TLJ is a weird take.
I think I remember that episode when I was a kid. My family was... unnervingly into gameshows and “Alex Trebek hosting Wheel of Fortune” generated the same mind-bending excitement as “Wolverine fighting Batman.”
Yeah I don’t buy that number. If they can put them in headrests in minivans without tacking $20k on the price, it’s not costing airlines that much, especially considering economies of scale.
$10,000 per seat? For what amounts to a tablet velcro’d to the back of a chair?
i get the idea of faith playing a role in whether you believe exorcisms or possession are real. but the author states this as though the kid or priests copped to the events as a sham later on, which is something i had never read before. otherwise, at best, the author asserts that faith/possession/exorcisms in and of…
Because it’s genius. It’d be like chucking The Searchers on the scrapheap becaause of John Wayne
That isn't my favorite episode, but George's speech is my favorite scene in any episode. Especially " like an old man trying to return soup at a deli"
I am SO GODDAMN OUTRAGED that I basically agree with most of this and don’t have a chance to write a sarcastic spittle-flecked list of all my problems with it.

“Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you Captain America: The First Avenger sucks, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say, ‘No, *you* suck.’”
As good as this moment is, because of the recurring line, I would actually go with Steve throwing himself on the grenade. This scene shows his tenacity and willingness to fight the good fight - the grenade scene shows just how truly selfless he is. Plus you get the reactions from everyone around, including Tucci and…
People sometimes forget what a challenge it was to introduce Thor into the MCU. Despite the green giants and flying armor suits, making a film that somehow slotted a Norse god with a giant hammer fit into the more grounded elements of the franchise was a big ask, and they did a great job.
mano means one and rail means rail
Go back and watch Glenn Ford’s “you are here for a reason” speech in the 1978 version and you’ll know exactly what’s wrong with this version.
It really is amazing the they made an excellent Captain America movie by leaning into what makes the character distinctive, instead of avoiding it. And that seems to be the theme for all of the MCU, which is even more remarkable.
That sounds awesome, actually.
I think you might be lactose intolerant.
