If you buy a stock for $100, then sell it for $150, it’s not double taxation to pay tax on the $50 gain. If you also had to pay tax on the original $100, then you would have a point, because that would be double taxation.

By the way, that’s not what they’re talking about when they talk about double taxation. Double taxation is when corporations pay income taxes, then issue a dividend that is also taxed. Reasonable people can legitimately debate the merits of that, but low capital gains taxes are just bullshit welfare to the wealthy.

I feel zero sympathy for you. Your capital gains income shouldn’t be special snowflake income any more than my dividends and interest income. It’s bullshit.
