Wow, lots of good ideas. Mine are mostly boring, sorry. A while back I started naming by physical sizes. Bigbox, BigBlackBox, Dinky-1, Dinky-2, Tiny. I used up all my creativity on wireless network names. Currently they are MAGGOT and COCKROACH. Yeah, I'm sick.
