To be fair, my dog IS a better person than Richard Dawkins. So are all other dogs. And most people.

Yeah, I know, they exist for a reason & I totally support them. But I think now, in this political climate, it’s also helpful for victims who are willing to speak out to do so. It helps take away the shame and stigma for other victims, too.

Oh, sure, some people will. But I think fewer of them. And you also get backup from all the people who believe you and stick up for you.

That too.

The whole thread is great. She was sitting next to Jason Kessler, the douchebag who organized the whole thing:

And here’s a tweet thread from someone who took notes at the hearing:

Everyone interested in the development of this case should follow https://twitter.com/emilygorcenski - she is a Charlottesville activist and had this news yesterday, so she’s got her ear to the ground.

If they’re going for murder 1, as I’ve heard, they do need to have evidence of intent.

Yes.

Yk, these last couple of months have convinced me that our cultural insistence that assault victims need to be anonymous has really not helped us. Don’t get me wrong, I 100% believe they have the right to stay anonymous if they want, but it really makes a difference when women are willing to stand up and put their

The whole South would be better off if ex-Confederates had been disenfranchised after Reconstruction instead of black people, and it’d be better off now if we took the vote away from white people. Pipe dreams, though.

I think we can simultaneously say that white women don’t get any bragging rights about this, and notice that statistically, a movement of white women from ~85% Republican to ~65% Republican helped destroy Roy Moore’s dreams.

Yup. I know this because David Sedaris has a very funny/horrifying bit about it called “Six to Eight Black Men.”

The first time I saw a sign in a grocery store (in Missouri) advertising “soda” I couldn’t figure out why anyone would care about a sale on baking soda. True story.

It is exactly this. It’s so they can say “see?? They hate white people!!” to gullible white conservatives.

Look, I’m not disputing that there are a lot of white people who are salty about the slightest threat to their privilege. But this “it’s OK to be white” bullshit is a deliberate campaign by white supremacist/alt-right groups to try to convince regular white conservatives that the left hates white people. It’s not a

For me, big = painful. YMMV.

I know people have legitimate criticisms of James Comey. But I still want to jump out of my seat cheering every time I see he’s said a new thing on the internet, because I know it’s going to be that good.
