The problem is Apple holds a patent for a candy bar shaped phone with rounded corners, flat surface, with minimal design. Even though, Apple was not the first manufacturer to ship a device like that they still somehow got that patent.

According to Apple, I own a early 2011 MacBook Pro, so since we get a new phone every year, is apple going to internally state that this is the 20xx iPhone?

2011 MacBook Pro and Airs do not have HDMI outputs so this is the next best set up.

Well the problem that does exist is that my Early 2011 MacBook Pro lacks an HDMI port so this is my solution. It might be a little bit more expensive, but it works. More importantly, the picture is of a 13 inch MacBook Air which does not have an HDMI port last time I checked.

Would the 7inch iPad default to tablet or phone apps? I personally think that phone apps look perfectly fine on a 7 inch slate. I just sold my PS Vita and I used the funds to pick up a Galaxy Tab 2 (7 inch) and the apps that were designed for phones work fine compared to my iPad when I run apps designed for the iPhone.
