It’s actually a really smart move for her. It’s free P.R. for the Green Party, plus she gets credit for lefty solidarity (something the Greens get criticized for a lot). She knows the Dems can’t request it without undermining faith in the electoral process further, so she’s saving them from that. There’s almost zero

Possibly, but I think third party candidates are just sometimes more likely to ask for recounts in close elections than major party candidates are. In 2004, Nader, Cobb, and Badnarik all asked for recounts for particular states even though John Kerry did not.

It sucks. That the most blunt way I can put it for progressive thinking troops like me and those published here. I sincerely want to get out, but I fell for the military trap. I don’t know where else I can find comparable benefits to provide for my family while making a better living all without a degree.

I am in almost exactly the same boat. I joined up at the tail-end of Obama’s first term; back then, I was pretty generic Republican, having voted for McCain before I joined. When Iraq and Afghanistan started winding down, I was personally and quietly relieved. I took an oath to the Constitution; if I was still active

I joined when Reagan was president, served through Clinton’s second term. When I enlisted I was pretty generic Reagan Republican, but the Iraq War (Number One) killed my idealism pretty quick. I volunteered, I served without complaint but I had problems. I spent the bulk of my time quietly involved in the drug war,

This is certainly not a statistically representative sample of the military. But it is far from meaningless.

I totally agree with you, but will repeat what a Jezzie said months ago about Andrea Tantaros. It really pisses me off that these women smirked and questioned other women who came forward regarding sexual assault, sexual harassment or domestic violence. However, thanks to feminists who have worked tirelessly for

Kind of rich coming from a woman who spent many years working for a network whose bread and butter is demeaning and doubting women and minorities re: accusations. No one deserves that treatment, but she didn’t just not reveal her own treatment, she actively made it harder for other women.

This post comes across as petty, mean-spirited, and ill-informed, IMO.

Am I the only one who’s finally entered the 5th stage of grief: acceptance? I mean, it’s not a feeling of 100% acceptance. It’s like 25% acceptance, 75% anger, but I think this is as high of an “acceptance to anger” ratio that I’m going to get.

An alabaster-white American with power in a time of slavery!

Oprah is a shameless opportunist and it is about time she was called out for it. She preys on society’s most vulnerable members and feeds them consumerist pablum as way to ‘fix’ their problems.

In the ranking of who to blame for a Trump presidency, Susan Sarandon is pretty fucking far down the list.

Thanks for that. It really does sum up the past week.

Infuriatingly true. The DNC has ignored progressives for decades, assuming we’ll all fall in line behind the lesser of two evils. This time, though, they outright stole the nomination from us, all the while lecturing us on how smart they were for doing it. They nominated a garbage candidate most of the country

I’m a 23 year old black Bernie bro from Detroit. Am I suffering from a case of white privilege?

Just for more context... Hillary Clinton was expected to win that primary. Obama came out of nowhere and was trailing Hillary among black voters at the start because nobody knew who the fuck he was or if he could win. Upsets like that are usually going to be close.

Nah, we just listened to your spiel about the down-ballots and the Supreme Court, and how liberalism was “too dangerous” to “try out”, and how we should be talking about the voters’ races and genders—instead of the candidates’ policies. As it turns out, your strategy didn’t work.

He won over my black ass. I really don’t understand why people think he would have more of problem with minorities than a white woman. Hillary Clinton was just the established name on the ticket in the primaries. Most people, especially with some of the earlier states, voted for Hillary Clinton over Martin O’ Malley,

Well, a lot more millenials probably would’ve voted or not thrown their votes away on third party candidates.
