I was the only black kid in my elementary school in PA and had no friends because the kids were racist AF. My neighborhood was different. Although we were the sole black family, the community embraced us. They brought so many treats when moved in my mom worried they would go stale before we could eat them. We became…
That family put skin in the game when they didn’t have to. There are a lot of unsung folks just like this.
When my family moved into Navy Officer’s Housing in San Diego in 1966 there were a lot of unhappy white people in the neighborhood. My father was stationed in Vietnam at the time when my mother moved her five children including 9-year-old me, into that all-white neighborhood. I was called “nigger” by more than a few…

...a dangerous stunt that alarmed the public and endangered her own life and the lives of the N.Y.P.D. officers who responded to the scene...
Another badass woman of note today, Judge Beryl Howell wrote a 92-page opinion (DAYUM!) to back her decision on why Mueller’s appointment as special counsel is not a constitutional violation, thus shutting down one of the Trump team’s major avenues for trying to get the investigation shut down
Damn, my respect for her just went up even more. What a fucking badass.
Chris Pratt, as a recovering Exvangelical, please let me give you this one piece of advice: Get out while you can!
Let he who has not eaten a hamburger in a Florida sushi restaurant cast the first... hamburger, I think is how the saying goes.
Growing up, we had a cat who would basically switch from cuddleball to all-out warfare mode if you ever tried to do this, so I was always wary from that point on.
I did this unthinkingly with my cat when I found her as a kitten because I knew nothing about kittens, but quite a lot about puppies. To this day, she loves belly rubs and is primarily a back sleeper.
One of my cats is fine with this, but gets bored of being held (and she’s about 14 lbs so I get tired of carrying her). She lets me put my whole face on her belly though, so it balances out
my cat prefers to be held like a baby you’re about to burp, and carried around that way, looking backward over your shoulder, or staring you in the eyes creepily.
My brother’s cat almost exclusively likes to be held this way. She’s kinda small for her age so she snuggles into your arms purring when she wants to and everything becomes right in the world.
Jezebel should be embarrassed by this click-bait garbage.
The reverence in which men talk about Walter and Jesse actually makes me feel like they don’t even fully understand how fucked up and flawed they are.
It’s always irritated me that audiences seldom hate male antiheroes with the same disappointment they reserve for women like Carrie Bradshaw, Nurse Jackie, or even Olivia Pope. Somehow the worse decisions Walter White or Don Draper makes, the more beloved and entertaining he becomes but people will literally stop…
Lost & Walking dead, both shows with such great potentially that they just bungled into a mess of a foot note.
I loved how genuinely abashed John was when Anita suggested that approach. It was such a gentle teaching moment [for him and me]. I was completely in awe of her by the end of the interview.
