Much of this seemed pretty real to me. Now I'm no comedian, but having been alive and active during those years, this all seems painfully authentic.

I've known my share of comedians during my life and none of them (I repeat NONE) are fun are to know! As Rodney Dangerfield once told me, "we [comedians] are all depressed assholes"…and I will second that, but I still loved many of them while on stage.
