Although the movie didn't raise to the level of the book (they rarely do), I was actually pleasantly surprised by the film. I thought it was good. Surprisingly, even my wife who had not read Ender's Game enjoyed it.

Sherlock Holmes is hard to beat, but I'd consider Ebenezer Scrooge a contender. Like Holmes, he is a character portrayed again and again, and in transformative ways. Similar to Holmes, it's common for a Scrooge archetype to show up by a character having "elements" of Scrooge.
Sadly, I think being raised in a hell world mostly just damned him to a lifetime of insufferability.
