Two or three years? I suspect that the average car goes to the junkyard with its factory brake fluid, unless a repair downstairs lets it out.  It’s probably the most neglected maintenance item around.

The real problem is that she was opened up over too many bulkheads. Even if she had had tops to the compartments, she likely would have had so much weight up front that her keel would have failed and she would have sank anyway.
