Ellen is from New Orleans but has lost a lot of the inflection. McKinnon so over-does it she sounds ridiculous.

I agree with you about 12 Yrs a Slave skit but I give Parsons a bit more of a break because the writing he had to work with absolutely sucked. If he'd had great material and bombed, that would be different.

The writing was so bad I can't blame Parsons. If he had good material and sucked that would be different.

The three things I liked in the episode were Jebidiah Atkinson, the "Twelve Years a Slave" casting and the Bird Bible. The rest ranged from bad to downright awful. I have no idea whether Jim Parsons can do anything other than Sheldon Cooper but this wasn't the place to find out, as the writing was so poor it didn't

You are right here. He was an absolute metronome of perfect time. He did a lot of interesting back-fills. He was also a lefty using a right handed drum kit.
