For all the darkness of Deadwood it’s the touches of grace and compassion (like Doc and Jewel, or Seth and Martha as they grieve the death of her son, William) in the midst of the literal knee-deep shit and gore that is so striking.

It’s absolutely the other way around. Give me the Eastern Conference in the NBA and a year to teach them football in a professional way (you know, by professionals), and they would dominate the NFL.

I’ll certainly take shit for this, but when it comes to food, looking to the French (or, in this case, Belgians) for direction is never a bad call.

People underestimate the actual crazy freak nature of athletes. NBA players in particular. James Harden is small on an NBA court. He’s 6'5" and weighs 220. He’s a giant next to a normal human.

Yeah, honestly, probably not. I think we’d have to go to whatever league LaMelo and Liangelo Ball were in last year before we find an area of competition for the NFLers. Even a G-League team still has among the top 600 current basketball players alive.

As a Chicagoan that gets an extreme WTF given the original Chicago-style dog (the Depression Dog, which doesn’t have as much stuff on it as what people now think of as the Chicago-style dog) always has fries with it.

There’s a variation of the Chicago hot dog called a depression dog which only has sport peppers, relish, onions, mustard and fries on top of it. They are glorious and much better than a standard Chicago hot dog.

Man, I feel bad now. Whenever I go back home to visit Chicago, I bring my friend’s kids (elementary aged) some random Colorado gear (Nuggets, Avs, Buffs, whatever) because my shithead kids like gear from random teams. Should I not do that (I only wear the occasional Chicago sports thing myself)?

Your comment misses the purpose of my article, which is to point out an instance of shoddy and irresponsible reporting practices within a greater trend of this as more mainstream pubs cover games culture.

Deadwood is one of the best written, best cast & best acted shows of all time. You should take the time to watch.

Yesterday, NPR published an article titled “Right-Wing Hate Groups Are Recruiting Video Gamers.” It’s the latest, most exaggerated version of a gaming-flavored narrative woven by elite media orgs in an apparent attempt to explain the rise of right-wing extremism in America.
