The problem here is that she didn’t frame the issue that way — she instead said the problem was with the media and that she wasn’t going to answer their questions any longer, full stop.

If she said she needed to address her mental health and that the questioning from media was in part if not wholly responsible for it,

I understand her argument, that media questioning was causing her emotional distress to the point where it could become debilitating, if not on the court then off it.

However, like any other job, she has a responsibility to report to her employer (French Open/Grand Slam officials) her concerns and then work to address

I agree, it’s a two way street. In the 80's and 90's there was a moderately talented hockey player named Peter Zezel who played for the several teams. In ‘98, he was on the Vancouver Canucks, when his niece was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He requested a trade to any Eastern Conference team, in order to be closer

I absolutely support her paying the fine in lieu of doing interviews. She did, however, sign a contract that stipulates either press events or a fine, so the press is absolutely part of the job (or the fine is, which is the road she took.) I think the org is being shitty that she called their bluff and opted to just

Oh yes, shoot this into my veins. Sports takes from those that don’t watch sports are wonderful to me.

I don’t think we should ignore that Serena Williams contributed to how the 2018 US Open was received. Her and Naomi may be cool, and they could have been cool at the time, too, but the scene she caused with the ref (rightfully or wrongfully) created part of the backlash against Naomi. I think Naomi would have caught

Not sure if the pandemic has changed things but certain things are always really hard to get (Be Our Guest, character meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table, the Luau at the Polynesian) but most places aren’t all that difficult if you are willing to be a little flexible.

If there was ever a fast food restaurant that deserved to fail it’s Tim’s. It’s a Brazilian company that uses Canadian nostalgia to sell the lowest quality food legally allowed.

She is stunning, and looks healthy and beautiful for her age. At this particular event, she looked tired. It happens. Beauty is a matter of subjective taste, and in my opinion, Kate Middleton is more beautiful than Meghan.

Fat cells increase collagen. Being rail thin isn't a good idea when you get older.

I mean, I think it’s just the fact in that photo one of them is in focus and the other… isn’t…

In fairness to the decent Karens of the world, and they do exist, the passenger’s name is Vyvianna Quinonez.

They already said: Lifetime ban on flying.

Hot take - this is the end result of low airfares and the democratization of air travel, combined with a refusal to punish bad behavior.

Always call CPS. YOu don’t know shit about what’s going on. If you suspect something shady happening to a young person who cannot defend themselves, call CPS. If they investigate and find nothing. Great. If they investigate and find something, awful, but at least it was found.

I will just add that the factors listed in the article for signs of sexual abuse are no different than the signs of physical abuse.

WTF???

The US government was highly incompetent and transparent about its incompetence, the Chinese government however was devilishly competent in what they did.

The crazy thing is there’s no need to gin up a reason to condemn the CCP, either for its deliberate mishandling of the initial outbreak or anything else. They detained doctors and journalists, literally welded shut doors of buildings with sick people inside and left them to die, lied to the WHO by claiming the virus

I think it does matter. If it was a biosecurity failure, the world needs to know it because next time it could be MERS. There needs to be far more oversight/regulation if human error was able to kill millions of people & destroy the lives & livelihoods of millions more.
