These were actually pretty nice cars at the time. They handled pretty well, rode very nicely for a low slung sports coupe and had better ergonomics than the contemporary F-body and Fox Mustang competitors. They looked pretty good too although they could be a little dumpy without the ground effects and hatch lid

Mopar did offer an over the counter RWD conversion kit for the Daytona for serious drag racers. Some assembly required.

Eh, that'd probably set off an airbag and between that and the compromised safety cell they'd total it out anyway. Not sure if that's hyperbole or not...

After living with an extended cab truck for a little while now, I've decided suicide doors ar a pain in the butt to actually use. The massive opening is awesome and they are fine if there is nothing around you but they are very awkward in real parking lots when there are cars parked next to you or a tight garage. You

Manufactures have figured out, after a brief golden age of everything having four-wheel discs and fancy multilink rear suspensions, that what happens out back just doesn't matter that much on their mostly FWD fleets. Struts, torsion beam or even dead axles are just fine for the overwhelming majority of drivers and

Oh no, we Count Duckula - that was one of my favorites.

I know it should be lower on my list of priorities of things-that-are-wrong-with-this-situation, but holding the phone in the wrong orientation is bothering me more than anything else about this video.

I know, right? It's practically an Accord Coupe.

The small displacement helps a lot, as does not having much in the way of accessories drive or electrical demand but it's more than offset by being carb'ed, having a vacuum/mechanical distributor and having a fairly high idle speed. Davidj210 below's Impreza has an engine of similar mechanical layout with more

Well, of course it's bullshit.

Oh, god, so many bad wheels for the SN95. Ford couldn't stop at just one 3 spoke design, there were several, including a 17" premium wheel.

Ford thought it was worth a shot too

US emissions regulations missed the 3-way catalytic converter and computer controlled fuel delivery and ignition by about a decade and what a horrible, horrible decade that was.

Two things:

I'm not so sure. I'm currently daily driving a truck with neither functioning A/C or heat and even though it hasn't started getting really cold yet here in the south - maybe one morning in the 30s and a couple in the 40s - I'm missing heat way more already than I was missing the A/C in the summer. Hope I can return

When we were in jr. high & high school we would compare performance cars by how fast they could go in 1st which was a terrible way to compare cars if you think about but not really completely terrible if you think about it for too long, but still kind of terrible.

GMC serves a useful purpose - it exists to give Buick/Cadillac dealers lucrative trucks to sell. Buick/Cadillac/GMC dealers would probably rather see GM cut Buick & Cadillac before GMC.

I don't get the looks of this at all. From some angles this looks like an old Ford Escort with a BMW body kit to me. Something is not right with the proportions, the stance and the shapes - especially in the back.

Who cares - you can't hear any rattles over the glorious V8 exhaust note anyway.

Can't let an article about Mustang colors go by without mentioning my favorite: 1997 Autumn Orange
