IIRC, it was a one-year-only deal with the Ford F-150...1997, first year of that generation. I believe the location caused more problems than it solved so they reverted back for ‘98.

As an avid off-roader I can affirm that putting the exhaust tips ahead of the rear wheels is an awful idea. That where the rock sliders go for a reason.
