This issue is incredibly complex, and the Biden administration’s ham-fisted “OpEc NeEdS tO dRiLl MoRe!” is exactly illustrative of the lack of economic literacy inside those walls.

1) the dollar is weak, relative to recent history
2) woowwweee inflation is a thing, color me shocked
3) We have oil in the US! Lots of oil!
4)

Highways aren’t interstates. Those two lane roads that can be a joy to drive, are highways. The main arteries in your city, that we car enthusiasts use to get to work, are usually highways. Would you rather spend $300 on an awesome set of brake rotors, or to repair a bent wheel that came as a result of what Jalopnik

Get outta here with your facts and figures!! </s>

Is that a fact? Please elaborate.

Kind of the point I made- it all depends on the criteria one uses to judge an engine. Often times the most reliable, easiest to repair engines don’t have that great of specific output but they’re great for duty cycle. Lexus made a damn smooth 4.5 liter V8 that wasn’t much for power but I’ll be damned if they won’t run

Hmm. Too many criterion to really name one engine the “best ever made”. It really depends on what you value. Is it Sound? Reliability? Specific output? Longevity? Cost to repair? Aftermarket support? Adaptability? Good luck finding one that checks all seven of those boxes... but the LS3 & 7, Coyote, 351 Cleveland, and

There’s a decent size overlap between what you and I described... the fact that you don’t recognize it, makes me question your automotive enthusiasm.

In all, that guy has absolutely zero business buying a new car or financing anything.

Raph, why don’t you quit your job? It is obvious to a casual observer that you actually hate cars.
2nd gear: Highways are where we drive cars. We are car enthusiasts. We like better roads that don’t beat the shit out of our cars.
4th gear: If you have a problem with raking in huge chunks of cash from ICE vehicles, then

IMO it depends on what kind of car the kid is buying. If the kid is buying a sick enthusiast car, then do everything in one’s power to encourage and help make it happen. If the kid is buying something practical and boring, then let the kid figure it out. We have to be stewards of the interesting automotive landscape.

10/10 If I ever find a 2006 suburban with the 8.1 liter under 100k miles, I am writing a check and driving it home.

Was just thinking this could be in a commercial for my bank, or maybe one of those computer generated renderings of some mid-cap business’s under construction HQ building.

I think the EQS is ugly as hell, but for the money it is a going to be a helluva lot nicer than the Model S inside, and probably have more interior space than Taycan. This will definitely be cross-shopped and its buyers will observe the same things I just typed. This is of course, assuming that M-B doesn’t do what M-B

Lol no, not quite. Sometimes the stand is closed when I get there, or my terminal doesn’t have one. Perhaps my use of the phrase “every time” was unnecessary. But definitely more than half the time. And it always gets expensed.

Chevrolet Volt

Kind of, but we should congratulate Cobra>Viper for his success and having a perfect two car garage.

I get my shoes shined every time I fly out of a city, it’s a little ritual of mine. Only takes 15 minutes, and makes me look and feel great. That was more back in normal times, but still plenty right now. I was on something like 184 flights in 2019.

“Dealers are raking in the profits buying and selling used cars”
Yea that’s kind of what car dealers do.

10/10 would commute or run errands in that cute lil fucker

LOL are you freaking kidding? Yes in a hundred or two hundred years it may be very difficult to operate an ICE vehicle.
