IMO it depends on what kind of car the kid is buying. If the kid is buying a sick enthusiast car, then do everything in one’s power to encourage and help make it happen. If the kid is buying something practical and boring, then let the kid figure it out. We have to be stewards of the interesting automotive landscape.
