Somewhat related: I’ve heard in passing that GM’s DI 3.6 V6 has some issues. Can’t remember what the issues are and if they ever got corrected. Anybody know?

I have this co-worker, and he has this weird fetish with E53 and E70 BMW’s. He has two E53's that are in the most expensive spec you could get in their respective years. One is Estoril Blue, which I guess is incredibly rare. His E70 is also the most expensive one you could buy in its year of production. We’re casually…
The car has had many owners since Ms. Hilton relinquished her ownership of the car to the bank.
I don’t like it when people use “addicting” when “addictive” is a better descriptor. “Addicting” is kind of a present tense verb, while “addictive” is an adjective.
Did you do them yourself? I did and it still cost! Thankfully there is a rent-a-bay garage not too far away, for those tasks that really require a lift.
The other maintenance item I had to do was pads and rotors. Brembo rotors and pads were actually cheaper than the M-B genuine parts, so that was a nice & welcome upgrad…
Only regret is that mine was 4matic and therefor limited to 130mph. Even with that governor, I made Chicago to Omaha in a little under 5 hours.
Oh gosh, you must have met my mother. She still holds true that countless brands are unreliable because she had a friend with a cousin back in 198- or 199- who bought that brand and had a lemon. She even thinks that Honda and Toyota reliability are a myth because her friend blah blah blah.
I owned an 08 E550, with an engine produced after the timing chain sprocket had been addressed and I have to mostly agree with you. The car was very reliable in that it never failed to start and never stopped moving. There were parts failures, but nothing that ever kept me from moving. It had some wheel bearings and…
Now we have the opposite sort of issue. So many vehicles on the road are incapable of reaching the far end of their speedometers, either due to governor, power, or aerodynamic drag... or all three. Heck, my old E550 had a speedo that went to 160 but it was limited to 130.
Neutral: You’re right about Hyundai killing it, and I’d like to throw Kia into that. Granted, they’re almost one in the same but they are different brands so it’s worth mentioning.
I also think that Ford is killing it, in part. Their stock has more than doubled since October and is now higher than it was in 2014 when…
LOL no a 100k mile miata is not an $11,500 vehicle. It’s a solid $7k vehicle maybe.
The seller about 50% higher than what someone should pay for this car. It will never be a collectible due to its condition and mileage. Sorry but nobody should pay top of the market price for middle market condition and the highest mileage out there. Guarantee this car needs all new bushings, fluids, and spark plugs…
I think you make a point. Some people hate the carolina squat just because of how it looks and the bill is poorly written. Regardless of why a certain percentage of the population hates vehicles that sport the carolina squat, they pose an inherent safety threat on public roads. And for that reason, the modification…
Can we please apply this principle to public roads?
TERRIFIC point about EV start-ups. Tesla is where it is now, after over a decade of development and untold billions of dollars of cash infusions. They mostly beat the existing automakers to the punch. I don’t see additional EV startups having much of a chance, simply because they’ll be in the infancy while known…
A far as actual repairs go, I’m with you, it is definitely plugs and coils on most vehicles. As far as maintenance, it has to be oil changes. Oil changes are so darn easy but most people still don’t do it their self and save money.
Alright most of the readers here have heard of it. Go ahead and send an e-mail to a dozen coworkers and ask if they’ve heard of it. Or text some aunts and uncles. This car’s appeal is incredibly narrow and only geek level enthusiasts have ever heard of it. Does that statement better suit you?
Jeez! This is a strong case of “I know what I have” on the part of the seller, except he doesn’t actually know what he has. This isn’t a Lotus Carlton. It is an old, finicky, slow car that nobody has ever heard of and is close to useless as anything but maybe a ride to Radwood. No dice at half the price!
Handsome enough design... but that name just has to go.
Goodbye range anxiety and power slides!
