Oh stop being pretentious. Nobody on earth thinks the show is deep or anything beyond just morning television. It’s a big show with lots of eyeballs. It’s precisely because it’s just easy TV that people stop by.

Yeah heaven forbid they promote their projects to a huge audience and benefit from it
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Covid and Boomers are a critical combination.
$160 a day? No wonder there’s a shortage of bus drivers. That rate is criminal.
Did my part this year. Bought a 2023 Mazda3 manual hatch. The only way it comes is in this body style and only in the Premium trim which is quite nice, but starts at $30K.
I bought my GTI new in 2019. I got a survey shortly after asking about why I purchased the car and I listed the fact it was a manual as the top option. The survey also asked what other cars I looked at and why, and having a manual option was always the reason why.

A Finnish Death metal band was playing at the bar I bounced for. They were touring the US in a leased 15 passenger van and a trailer. Life on the road.
I think it’s also related to a lot of jobs switching to remote or mostly work from home. It’s a lot more enjoyable to drive a manual for fun, rather then creeping in rush hour traffic. This is exactly the reason why I didn’t buy a manual car preCovid.
They have come a LONG way since the older ones though, especially the leaf spring Wranglers. Those things are kind of terrifying on the highway.
Well, one thing is for sure... it’s not Jalopnik that’s trying to save it, anymore. You guys have been letting us down on that front for a good 5 years or more, now.
My 17yo loves the hell out of the regular cab, manual, rollup-windows 2wd Chevy Colorado he drives around. He thinks it’s wicked fun. I remember feeling the same way about an old Nissan pickup I drove in college. The giggle factor on dirt roads or snowy parking lots, the utility of just chucking whatever fun stuff in…
You are correct, but an important distinction here is that the age ranges stated above are 18-46 and 18-35. I don’t think any 18 year olds are buying a new Integra at $35-40k anyways, but someone in their 30s will. If anything, the editorialism in the article is off by relating this to Gen Z instead of to millennials.
I could be wrong about this, but the above statement seems quite off IMO. Not to mention anything remotely sporty now gets marked up until your nose bleeds.
fyi not just younger folks
This article is referring to new vehicle sales only. I have no doubt your point is correct either way, but used vehicle sales are not considered in these figures.
I gave stick-shift lessons to all three of my kids - but only one of my 20-somethings decided to enjoy it. He started out with my ‘00 Subaru Legacy stick wagon - but we decided he needed something else when heading out of town for school. It turns out that a neighbor was selling an ‘06 Honda Element AWD 5-speed, so…
I’ve told my 15-year-old daughter that there are two conditions she has to meet if she wants a car when she’s old enough to drive: a part-time job and a willingness to have a manual transmission. Both are character-building.
At least we know it won't happen again. They have the memory of a goldfish
Great, now I’m craving poke.
