I think you're spot on about this show's attitude towards EU. It's neat to see more of that sort of thing.
I'm not against having a big scope eventually. I just want it built on a core of characters and relationships that we care about for what they are and do on this show and not Clone Wars or the movies.
Mr. Johnson is correct that the family dynamic isn't working, but that is much more a failure of writing than it is an incompatibility of characters.
I'm really concerned about what Rebels has done so far this season. The crew of the Ghost has plenty of story potential and more than enough protagonists.
