I think there's just enough in this show to get it grounded and not just buoy in metaphor level. unlike "the oa", for instance, which seems to be entirely made of smoke and mirrors, or rather symbolism and open ends so the viewer can fill the (gaping) gaps.

yeah, me too, sorta. I like it a lot.

exactly. it's probably from just after they adopted lily.

I kind of like this angle, as someone who has an active imagination but is being somewhat forced by the circumstances of life (and the need to feed herself) to have a boring existence. I like to think of my ups and downs as these complex journeys and whatever stroll I take through the city or brief trip I take,

hear, hear.

I'm straight and I'd share a (probably non-sexual) bath with her. plus: we're sorta lookalikes (and from an interview that I read with her, we're also similar in demeanor and preferences and we share a birthday – day, month, year – so it would be interesting to me).

yeah, that seems to be what was going on, with the added layer of kevin having a possibly hereditary tendency toward mental disease. plus: I don't think he and nora will actually be reunited, if that flash forward to her in the australian outback as an old lady is any indication of what the future holds for her. but

that's true. she didn't actually hold power (at least not the kind of power the aliens were demanding from the other representatives). and they would know that. but obviously, if the show really wants to, her "power" can be explained away by the fact that the doctor chooses companions for their ability to act against

I kept waiting for bill to come up with the idea of him taking a picture or turning on video recording on his sonic shades so she could guide him.

yeah, the constellation thing was rough.

when the doctor warned nardole that his lungs were cheap, I had an instant reaction, and that's when I realized I really have come to really like this character as a companion. granted, he probably wouldn't make sense for a different doctor, but I'm hoping he sticks around for the rest of capaldi's run. I think I'm

ah, thanks, I was hoping there was some interesting and revealing interview or something.

where can I find out more about those shenanigans behind the scenes?

it just broke my suspension of disbelief for a minute. she had very visible mascara and foundation there, but it's not a big deal at all.

apparently mascara and foundation survived praimfaya too. man, not even a post-apocalyptic world manages to wipe out the goddamn cosmetic industry.

ditto. I had resigned myself to being a solitary whovian until I realized the av club had dr. who reviews too (it's been a while now, as you may guess, but yeah, the rest of the fandom is… frustrating).

Exactly. This is what made it almost unbearable to watch, for me. She didn't say it, but she probably was being used for "sex" (I mean, rape isn't sex) by those venereal disease-ridden nazi officials. So she watched her family get killed, was forced to kill people and was likely getting raped on the regular. Yeah, I

same.

haven't seen it, will check! thanks.

yes, I liked that one too. I wish zal & brit had kept "the oa" a bit tighter like they did with "the sound of my voice", though. I think "the oa" is an example of excess in world-building and mystery-building, so to speak, and "the leftovers" didn't fall prey to that, which is one of the things I enjoy the most about
