She was severely abused and exploited for years. Not only was she away from social media, she is emotionally very young for her age as a result of the captivity and abuse she endured. I think it’s reasonable that she is going to make some public mistakes and she deserves a little grace. 

This is insane, perhaps for obvious reasons, some of them listed in this article. Sink-holes, disposal, run-off/pollution (including asbestos), noise. I would not feel safe with this person as a neighbor, and I can definitely see how being an undocumented migrant would make me weary about speaking up.

My sincere hope is the site is not just back but returns to some of the former quality and insight that made it a an outsized-pop culture staple. Frankly the site had been in decline for years before its shuttering. I don’t mean to shit on you or any other writers who, I gather, have been working under less-than-ideal…

He's done nothing to indicate that his attitude, views, or behavior have changed. An apology without genuine repentance isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Can I just take a moment to appreciate Joe Johnston?

Look, there are a ton of problems in the world, and there are things about this video that I could fixate on if I wanted to be a weenie. But I’m glad I watched that.  Seeing the pure joy on that kid’s face, for a brief moment, made me forget every bad thing. That was fun. What a great dad to all of us.
