I think Nathan hits it in the article proper: MacDonald makes bombing seem fun. His whole persona is built around his utter (and sincere, I think) disinterest in being traditionally likable or successful, and invites the audience to share in his sense of how ridiculous most of the things he's being asked to do are.

I know for a fact that World's Greatest Dad was on at least two ballots. Alas, alas. (Also Sleeping Dogs Lie, although that one might just have been on mine.)

Guys, I literally made the "Stand By Meowth" joke right up there in the article.

I'm like the only person on Earth who thinks Peter David's book where he reveals that Trelane is a young member of the Q Continuum is a good read.

Yes to both. It's weird, and slightly anxiety-inducing every time I have to write about it.

I think this is an interesting take, but it leaves out one key aspect of the film's ethical universe: The Farts.

I could also have lived without Martial Arts Lessons In The Society Of People Who Are Better Than You. Actually, I could live without most of the bits, in both books, that don't take place at the school.

Thanks for pointing this out.

It should be up in a minute.

I have written my fair share of obits for the site. This is the one that made me the saddest. That Grantland piece is rough.

That's a line from the court case of Plumberduck vs. The Grey, I think.

I'll be right there with you, binging the whole thing on day one.

Feedback is always appreciated. I can certainly see your point.

Headline writer here: I did consider writing this as a standard obit, with an R.I.P., but in this case, the unfortunate and extraordinary circumstances of Grimmie's death are, themselves, news, and I thought the headline should reflect that.

This has been up for 6 minutes and we're already at 3 Space Mutiny references. Let's keep this going, people.

Thanks for pointing this out, I confused Wepner's knockdown of Ali with an actual loss. It's been fixed.

That, sir, is a facile argument!

How so?

Nope, complete red herring / throwaway joke.
