Maleficent. The magnificent malediction. Petty, vindictive, utterly badass sorceress extraordinaire. Hell yeah she’ll lay a curse down on your precious baby girl just for not inviting her to the shower and hell yeah she’ll turn into a giant murderous dragon whenever she so chooses.

While I did appreciate James Franco’s performance as a charming con man, I did not really think the Wicked Witch of the West needed the ‘naive girl has her heart broken’ twist.

Nope. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. Sometimes it’s perfectly acceptable to be just... evil, without a childhood trauma to try and round out a character that nobody asked to round out. Sadly, this has become a huge trend with Disney in recent years.
