I am still waiting for that one episode in this Season that can match the quality of "Halloween of Horror" from Season 27. I thought this episode could be it because they can do a lot of good writing about Bart's conscience and his relationship with Lisa, opportunity for depth and emotional episode. But it turns out

There are much better alternative such as South Park and Rick & Morty. There is a misconception that South Park is just fart jokes and shock factor but it has quality writing, meaningful story and comedy but most people avoid it because of what appears on the surface (the first couple of seasons were quite rough

I just wish Bart would just accept Lisa's hug for once. They have not properly hugged since Season 16!

We need more episodes written by Matt Selman or Carolyn Omine!

Probably has one of the best musicals in The Simpsons.

I still prefer Halloween of Horror but come on now you cannot rank this amongst the Season Premier and Puffless. There is clearly much more character development and story going on than those two episodes. Presentation looked really nice too, especially the voice acting of the characters as they change throughout

Subtle jokes are the best jokes.

What about Halloween of Horror?

Well I'm the opposite, there was a lack of focus on Lisa from recent seasons and I am happy this season they are bringing her back. She also appears to be more childlike and adorable (and less self-righteous and shouty) in this season than any other season, the last time I remembered she appeared like this was in

they are still hand drawn with some computer tech

Though post-2002 they use a lot of computer graphics because of the demand of making The Simpsons look better compared to their competition.
"But there's been a rising level of quality of all the animated shows, so there's an expectation that

Some people like the unrefined look of some of the older episodes, less adobe flash like, they kind of look like film grain to me too, I was rewatching some classic episodes and they have this noisy, grainy look to them like from a newspaper, watching the HD episodes I noticed there are none of these (which I prefer,

The only thing I dislike about this episode is that Bart is just being a dick…again. I do feel sorry for him that he missed a great party but he does not show any sympathy to his sister. What happened to 'Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore' from Season 15? I know he is only 10 and The Simpsons doesn't really do

"When Lisa’s spirit has been broken by her fear, her hair points droop ever so slightly." That is my favourite observation. Plus that slight tremble when Lisa gets home from school. I find it cute.
EDIT: Oh and when Homer finds Lisa , they hug then get scared off by the thugs, really nice animation.

I don't think it is less, just more subtle which I prefer, and more range too. More believable, more impact.
Like for example, this article says "When Lisa’s spirit has been broken by her fear, her hair points droop ever so slightly.", I noticed that too and I liked that, very subtle.

Well yes it is easier to produce but also "[Groening] didn't want The Simpsons to be a cartoon where Homer can run off a ledge like Wile E. Coyote and keep running. He wanted respect for the laws of gravity, the physical properties of the basic elements. I would run up against that sometimes. For example, you can't

It is by J. Stewart Burns, the same writer from the Premier episode.

I like it since I am a bit technology savvy and I am obsessed with the clean edges and finer details of everything. I hate that it isn't even full-HD, it is just 720p. The pre-HD episodes just looks bad on a 4K monitor.
If we are stuck with pre-HD then short films like the Maggie Simpson in "The Longest Daycare"
