his answer is correct but it also depends on island. Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands get there parts from the mainland USA.

Salt, potholes, hills etc damage the vehicles and they tend to not last as long as the mainland vehicles. Also, the folks tend to be very resourceful (not as bad as Kuba) and they maintain vehicles for a very long time.
