I thought the flashback was comically pointless until she said "five rounds rapid" and then I basically jumped for joy.

As the review says, they've stopped writing her as a caricature of fandom and have made her a more rounded character. I liked her anyway, but this episode really improved the characterisation. She's kind of like post-series 3 Martha now.

I could maybe see Eccleston pulling it off, but yeah this was very Capraldi.

I can't remember, but I did hear that the actors could pitch in and the whole thing was done in multiple takes to allow ad-libs and alternate lines.

Yeah I'd definitely rank 4 as one of the best - that run from "Silence in the Library"/"Forest of the Dead"->"Midnight"->"Turn Left" may be one of my favourite stretches of episodes in the new series. And despite the second half of the two-parter being unpopular I might throw in "Journey's End" as well as the big team

Oh yeah, internet writers seem to incapable of enjoying a fun pop song without having to qualify that it's really about something important.

You are right - it's a dangerous assumption, really, as it feeds into that rape culture idea that if women would just have sex with these men then they wouldn't be attacked. Not getting sex doesn't suddenly make anyone violent, being violent does.

Yeah, it's a toughie, 'cause on the one hand, the major is a sentient AI inside an android body and so the casting does not technically have to be limited to anything (and the story as a whole is in one of those William Gibson-esque cyberpunk cities that could be Tokyo, LA, HK, or anywhere) but Hollywood has so few

The National are popular enough now that they'll never get more that a 7.1 because that's how P4K works…

So that's what that is - every time I watch something music related on youtube that appears in the 'recommended' bar, but I generally don't like vloggers so I've ignored it. Glad to see I'm not missing much.

I don't know if you're just parodying internet journalism, but to be fair to Minaj she has actually spoken out about a number of issues concerning women (and especially women of colour), on and off stage.

It's unimaginative and homophobic, of course they went with it…

Yeah, he has actually clarified his statement and that was his meaning. He likened it to asking someone a few hundred metres from the finish line of a marathon if they were going to run another one.

The late nineties BBC logo/music just makes me think of The Animals of Farthing Wood

I think Climbing Up the Walls is a legitimately creepy song, even without the terrifying scream.

Moved onto Dragon Age: Inquisition - I know it was designed for newer consoles, but I don't think I'll be getting a PS4 for a while and I didn't want to wait to carry on my first-time DA play-through… So far, it has been slightly glitchy (but not as bad as Fallout NV which was designed for this gen). The only issue

Plus there's always the possibility that it's the decades of abuse from teenagers and general maltreatment that made him so angry.

"Is that a broomstick?"
"I just got it to sweep the floor, no-maj dude!"

I would be perfectly happy with Brida becoming this show's Lagertha…

I explained it that way to my Norwegian flatmate with the expected result - I mean when you put it out like that it is pretty weird.
