Pretty much - I've noticed at a lot of student clubs in the UK it's the last song singalong, where all the drunk folk put their hand in the air and earnestly sing every word.

I hadn't listened to it for a while because it was overplayed and I thought the 'soul not a soldier' bit was silly, but I put it one recently and wow it's a legitimately great song.

I'm imagining that in the voice of Adam Buxton's Bowie impression and it is wonderful!

It's making me feel ill.

"I hear that you and your band have sold your guitars and bought turntables
I hear that you and your band have sold your turntables and bought guitars"

Bruce's request sign collecting always gives that intimacy. When I saw him someone had requested Long Time Comin' for their newborn kid (he intro'd the song by referencing the lyrics, jokingly warning them to not fuck it up) and someone else had a sign saying that they'd look good holding his guitar so he got her up

Bruce was my first thought too. Jealous you saw him while Clemons was alive though.

Break his racist bone. Make him humble.

Yes, yes, you haven't heard of a band you're very cool.

"Internet will not stop until every television show, film, and video game has been re-cut to the Friends theme."

It is kind of a mix of the 'What if x was y all along?' film theories and a belief that if something has a real-life back-story it is more authentic and thus better.

I know he was actually a pretty terrible person, but I couldn't help the Modern Lovers reference…

Yeah, it seems kind of obvious really. 'Something is happening here, but you don't know what it is, do you Mr. Jones?' It's an attack on the safe, conservative types who were horrified by the youth culture of the mid 60s as well as the stuffy journalists who'd ask him stupid questions.

So more like '10/20 Experience' then?

Isn't Loyal Butlerman the presenter of Comedy Bang Bang?

But Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole (not in New York anyway)

If I remember right, Weaver only agreed to do Resurrection if she wasn't playing the 'real' Ripley because she also felt that 3 tied up her story. I haven't seen 3, oddly enough, I'll have to do that.

I kind of forgot it was supposed to be a prequel until the Xenomorph turned up. Thinking about it, that's probably for the best. The worst prequels cant stop reminding you they're in the other films' universe with constant unnecessary references crowbarred in…

A lot of Alien Resurrection seems more like a dry run for Firefly now. I like it, to be honest. It's very different to the others but Jean-Pierre Jeunet's weird direction saves it from seeming like an Alien knock-off and I actually think the cloned alien Ripley is cool idea…

When I see 'Jack Nicholson' and 'hot tub' together the first thing I think of is Kathy Bates…
