I had not noticed that it was semi-transparent until I went back up to look in response to your comment.  So, I think you owe me an apology.

If that didn’t stop the creators of Deep Impact, why should it stop Kravitz?

That’s why it’s full steam ahead for the adaptation of Jeter in Butt Land, which was written down, and thus has respectable literary antecedents:

The Borderlands trailers have looked pretty bad, but if you’re struggling to understand why Cate Blanchett decided to star in an ensemble action-comedy blockbuster with Jack Black and Kevin Hart, people with a proven record in such movies, you’re not trying hard enough.

Right, and that might not be all bad. Holofcener laments the loss of arthouse movies theaters, and (as someone who also loves such theaters) it’s a real loss. But people in Iowa aren’t sitting around wondering why they can’t find a theater anymore showing Enough Said — they never had one.  The fact that they can find

I certainly understand the frustration that indie filmmaking is struggling and that smaller films are finding it ever harder to find an audience.

Right. If I’m a casting director (particularly one casting a movie that I know ain’t exactly going to be competing for Oscars) I’m looking for someone like Raul Julia in Street Fighter -- someone who can elevate the material and make the best of the situation they’re in.

I’m not convinced Johnson is a decent actor. If anything, people seem to have been amused by the fact that Johnson is visibly checked out of the Fifty Shades movies and Madame Web, the two most prominent roles she’s ever had.  These movies themselves aren’t good, and I get the sense that Johnson has turned in better

I think it’s premature to say that Dakota Johnson gets a boost from her willingness to distance herself from the bad projects she’s in. Johnson had big roles in three prominent-ish movies in 2018 (Fifty Shades Freed, Suspiria, and Bad Times at the El Royale). She did not then have anything nearly so prominent until

If you publicly insult the most successful show you’ve been in, and the most successful movie you’ve been in, how are you not difficult? And is it all that surprising that people considering casting you might worry that you’ll take their money and then trash their projects too?

Also, Pixar sequels have been pretty great.  Are people angry about the Toy Story sequels, Finding Dory, Monsters University, Incredibles 2?

If you think that original movies and higher-end food are primarily being made for the sake of artistic achievement, and not to make money, I have some bad news for you.

In addition to firing Barsanti, the new owners of the site would be advised to work on Barsanti-lite content. What’s the point of being this smug and hostile about movies that are, at this point, entirely hypothetical?

You’re both wrong.

I used to think you were a swell guy. Well, to be honest, I thought you were an imbecile. But then I figured out you WERE a swell guy... A little slow, maybe, but a swell guy. Well, maybe you’re not so slow, But you’re not so swell either. And it looks like you’re an imbecile after all!

Lower-tier Coen brothers is still pretty great. I’d say it’s a messy movie, but also a lot of fun.  The Jennifer Jason Leigh performance alone is worth the price of admission.

Do actors usually fact check the script?  Is that their job?

It’s finally happened! I’ve found the other person who saw The Hudsucker Proxy!  And all I had to do was kill . . . er . . . have Bill Cobbs die by natural causes.

First of all, it’s not clear to me that the same people are saying these two things. Obviously, there’s no hypocrisy in different people saying different things that might be in some tension. Different people are saying different things about every subject under the sun, all the time.

Paul Walter Hauser was responsible for the script for Richard Jewell, even scenes in which his character played no part?
