My father’s wife had one of these when they met and I was .... 15-16.

I can see that, and totally admit that’s possible (even likely) .though this wasn’t the aught’s though, it was the early 90's (maybe even 89) Car modding then seemed to be all about lowered mini trucks and big sound systems.

I remember driving my grandmother around when she was in her 90's. We drove out to the beach so she could listen to the sea lions and look at the ocean. On the way back we drove a long way round so I could show her some of the roads I went on long bike rides.....this is pretty rural.
