Totally a point worth making clear. As millions of calves are slaughtered every year for dairy, and meat-eaters are squeamish about eating veal, at least the poor calf didn’t go to entirely to waste/ pet food. This vegan would prefer them to be made into nicer shoes.

Some veal is an excellent ethical meat source. Rose veal is considered ethical because male calves are slaughtered because they won’t grow up to produce milk. I am a veggie so I can’t vouch for the flavour of rose veal vs white veal, but I know that I would rather the calves be eaten than thrown in the trash.
