Thank you for doing what I should have done. 😂  Yeah, I have a kitchenaid mixer that I use for doughs -- that little plastic blade doesn’t look like it could handle much, honestly.

yeah, to be honest, the plastic blade didn’t look like it could handle much of anything. I have a kitchenaid that I use for bread dough, and sometimes it struggles with thicker dough.

The 501st came to our hospital a few years ago to surprise a 6-year-old boy who had just completed his last radiation treatment for an incurable brain cancer (Darth Vader was his favorite character). There were plenty of bad guys, but also some “good guys” in the mix, and they were all delightful people who brought…

I just got a giant 9-cup food processor and haven’t explored all its uses yet. Do you use the plastic blade for pie dough? This might be a game-changer.

I actually find fall kind of depressing, but I’m definitely in the minority among my friends. The temperatures drop and the leaves start changing, and all it does is remind me of death and that winter is coming, lol. I much prefer spring, and I get ecstatic when temperatures spike up and the buds on trees start…

My thoughts too. Those ‘home movies’ are lengthy scenes and involve a child killing their family in unbelievable ways, which is stressful to watch. I’d think your heart rate would jump and stay up when one of those movies starts, because you’re anticipating what’s coming. I wouldn’t say that definitively makes it the…

Yup. The original Tremors is legitimately a top 3 all-time movie favorite for me. Horror/sci-fi, comedy, and characters who aren’t total idiots just trying to figure out how to survive in realistic ways. The puppetry really holds up, too. Plus, an excellent use of Reba McEntire!

Same. Everyone is used to seeing my tuxedo cat jump on my desk and start headbutting me or walking on my keyboard. And if he’s not around, they get concerned!

Yeah, I worry for this. I have the Regal Unlimited plan, which I enjoyed and used regularly pre-COVID. It was frozen while the theaters were closed, but when they reopened, they gave us a “free month” and were about to start charging again. I work in healthcare and was like, I just don’t think it’s a good idea to go…

One of my coworkers (we work at a university) just had a lengthy email exchange with a professor who was basically asking her to put the text from a webpage into a PDF so he could send it to others... she was asking him why he couldn’t just send the link to the webpage, he kept arguing with her and giving strange…

I think I do something similar, in that I’m constantly calculating the fraction/math as a distraction. “OK I’m 20 minutes into this 45-minute cycle ride, so that’s 4/9 of the way through, which is roughly 44.4%” and so on. And as the minutes go on, the math changes, so I’m sort of constantly working out the math in my…

I think it depends on what your goals are and what you enjoy doing (for me, playing basketball or tennis sounds like torture). If you’re working toward achieving a specific goal and actually improving your fitness in a measurable way, then you need to push yourself past what’s comfortable or even fun (though…

I grew up in a relatively well-off family in a poor rural area, and we still didn’t know how to eat healthfully even though we could afford groceries. My mom thought that “healthy” just meant restricting calories. I was a chubby (but active) kid and she put me on a diet when I was in 8th grade. I’d have a post-it note…

I shred mine and add them to my compost, since I don’t have a ton of other “brown” ingredients to add to it, like leaves/grass clippings/etc.

I just downloaded the Nike Training Club and tried to join to see what all they offered and it said I “wasn’t eligible to join,” lol.

I’m sure the hardware on the actual Peloton is awesome. But any decent bike will show you RPMs and power read out (wattage) that you can monitor. If you’re seriously on a budget, you can make it work and still get in a good workout.

I feel like people are forgetting that you can buy the Peloton app without the bike? I have a Stages SC3 cycling bike (the same one I teach classes on at my gym — or did, pre-COVID) and I gave the Peloton app a try when they were offering a free 90-day trial in the early days of COVID. And I have to say... it’s really…

I had a similar feeling when I saw The Lovely Bones, which is a book I LOVED and recommended to everyone, but the movie was... not good. And that was extra-disappointing since I thought Peter Jackson did an amazing (not perfect, but about as close as you could hope) job adapting LOTR.

Yeah, and I get that, to an extent. But I think it shows that there are some properties that you just can’t condense down into a two-hour movie, and this is one of them. Would be curious to see the original Watchmen storyline done as a limited run series now.

So I don’t know a tremendous amount about the Watchmen graphic novel — just sort of the basic stuff, and I knew that it had this huge following and was considered revolutionary. When the movie came out, I saw it in the theater and left thinking, ‘Well, it was visually appealing, I guess, but I don’t really get what’s…
