A question since you mention how doctors used to put women under for biopsies ... why aren't patients put under for biopsies now? My father-in-law endured a biopsy in his hip that was painful, but the doctors didn't put him under, and whatever local they gave him did not do the job. I've heard similar stories

The Boston area has a stunning assortment of determined pervs. My cousin's neighborhood had a BOLO for a dude who was climbing through windows and stroking the feet of sleeping women.

My theory is that many people feel as if the women in their workplace need to be their mothers. So, when they go, they bitchnwhine that their mommies aren't there to take care of them. Clearly, your former coworker's management team needed someone to wipe their butts.

Perhaps I'm revealing too much about my tastes, but are you saying that Joe Biden isn't hot right this minute?

Theocraticjello, first you need to consider your budget and then find out what other published authors are using. Check out the first or last pages of the book, where the author usually credits any services she uses.

You're not the only one to be on a Steely Dan kick. The dude who sits next to me has been blasting it regularly, but I am enjoying it. I even have a little dance blocked out to the tune of "Peg."

BlondeGoddess, it's always a Shane, isn't it? Every Shane I've ever known has had a thing for weed and/or chicken. Sometimes both at once. Even if these posts are fake, whoever is behind it absolutely knows a Shane.

I've intervened when I've seen children hit one of my relatives and the parents didn't do anything. I didn't touch the kid, but I did grab the kid's hand and serve up some words that the kid absolutely understood. The parent was pissed at me, but the episode has not happened again.

True, it should be the rule not to applaud people for doing their jobs, but a little public approval for doing a job is good. Maybe it seems like giving people medals for participation, but it also shows that people care and that people are watching, which is the most important thing. Maybe these police officers in

Jenn321, wow — I had no idea some schools didn't let teen parents cross the stage. I remember at least five or so at me graduation, and it was treated like a normal thing.

doubletroublepox, it would be fascinating if the school had stats to find out if acknowledging the existence of the teen parent improved their graduation rates over time.

Dark Lord, well done. Another side note, more related to the white-collar worker, is how working through illness is a badge of honor. I've seen people coughing up a lung touching phones and doorknobs and who knows what all and saying, "I simply can't stay home today. I must be here."

Brainzilla, I'm with you. Peeling beer labels is often the only way an introvert like me can get through a bar-hopping evening. I also make sure to clean up the shreds.

The author certainly does have experience with "free samplers" if he was bouncing in Cambridge, Mass. Will, if you worked at the Enormous Room or whatever it is called now, I apologize for my cousin's friend, who asked for free samples and then drank what was leftover in drinks that other patrons left behind. I'm

Oh, no. I hope that your family gets the memo eventually. It never helps when someone says you're too sensitive or you're being too serious, does it? And if they were in you're position, I bet they would ask you to stop reminding them of their humiliating moments, too.

Yes! I know my family loves me, but I hated it when they talked about my humiliating moments or praised people who humiliated me, especially when I avoid doing the same to them. (I have more reasons to be humiliated, though, so I don't have much leverage.)

Star for use of that GIF.

I was just complimented for the "New England palette" of my wardrobe.

Thank you! Yup. Sterling isn't being tossed in jail for what he said. He is receiving an appropriate punishment for his actions. He's still free to engage in senile ramblings on race, only the podium that he once had has been kicked out from underneath him.

At my old job, we had a woman who would take out her diaphragm and just leave it airing out there. No one wanted to touch it to toss it, of course, and to this day, I wonder ...
