Agree to disagree I guess. I don’t think the word managed to convey any more of a cycle of abuse than his father slamming him up against the wall and threatening him with violence.

Just started rewatching Selfie on Hulu. What a great little show it was.
The f-bomb deployed in the scene with Billy’s father has really stuck with me and not in a good way. I suppose there’s the “we’re trying to demonstrate how awful the character is” defense, but all it did was take me out of the show and make me uncomfortable.
I basically enjoyed this, though the inclusion of Lorraine and the continuation of the Will & Grace working together plot in this particular episode made no sense. They seem to be determined to shove a B and C plot into episodes where they aren’t necessary. That being said, it was light years better than last week’s…
There’s a real wide spread on the acting abilities in this show...the Jace story didn’t land for me at all and while that’s partly the really clunky writing, Coby Bell can’t sell it. Amy Acker, on the other hand, makes me interested in her doing impromptu surgery on a character I barely know.
I laughed out of pure confusion at the randomness and spent the whole time trying to figure out if they were parodying something specific.
This was really frustrating...just spin the whole plot around Beverly Leslie in the counry club room and I bet it would have been funny. This was disconnected and full of really weird choices.
*sigh* SNOOCH. Eff off Kinja.
The Grace/Karen plot was okay for me...not inspired, but funny enough. Karen holding a mirror up to Grace’s crotch and asking her why her smooch isn’t breathing is never not going to make me laugh.
That was, without a doubt, the best portrayal of an acting class I’ve ever seen.
Still very not sure of the addition of a child, but I have to admit that the kid is doing a fairly good job with the acting.
I am still continually shocked at how much I love Andy Samberg on this show...I almost didn’t watch at when it premiered because I just couldn’t picture myself enjoying spending 22 minutes a week watching him do his schtick. This show has turned me into a fan.
Allison, you’ve more than proven your ability over on CExG reviews, you’ll be just fine here.
I need a really solid Karen episode. She’s been the most under-served character thus far and is, in my opinion, the best reason to watch.
I miss Ugly Betty more than I realized. I yelled “HILDA!!” at my TV when Ana Ortiz showed up.
Agree that Moyer is way off in his characterization here. It’s making me hope he’s the surprise main character death all these shows seem to have.
I just blacked out when you mentioned CRJ as Dazzler. Thank you for this dream.
Actually liked this way more than expected.
I had the same thought/moment of relief upon seeing the byline.
Agreed that this one was rough and the trip to DC was dumb, but it still had some great zingers. “I says, not a threat” was pretty classic. It’s been so long since I watched a comedy with these rhythms I almost forgot what it’s like to have time to laugh without fear of missing another joke.
