Twitter is a cesspit of downer news stories and attention-craving monsters desperate to get dunked on. I was a very active Twitter user, but I knew the doomscrolling was bad for my mental health.

I would say that Twitter’s problems pre-date Musk.  All he has done IMO is helped rip the band-aid off.

Yeah there’s really no scenario where Musk does what he keeps saying he’s going to do and Twitter doesn’t slowly lose most/all of the English-language users because they don’t want to be in a cess-pit, and fun people don’t usually hang out in those (this isn’t 2002 anymore!).

The good news is that if Twitter becomes a festering dump for right-wing crap (again), odds are a lot of users are going to leave and the revenue will sink for it.
