“Why they kill my dog?”

That’s because we 1.) Still miss our Uncle Charles, ya’ll. 2.) Still wonder what we gonna do, when judgement comes for us.

Can confirm New Orleans clubs still lose their fucking minds over Back that Azz Up. It’s like when Clevelander’s hear “Bone bone bone BONE bone BONE bone BONE now tell me whatcha gonna do...”

But the flayed aren’t portrayed as the hated Other from which society recoils. They’re portrayed as an extreme of social conformity. They’re a hive mind of small-town folk converted around the dining room table while “American Pie” plays on the soundtrack. They’re sexist good ol’ boys still seething with contempt for

I believe in this retirement just as much as I believe in any of Terry Funk's retirements

While I love reading about new stuff I haven’t heard before (or wasn’t aware was forthcoming), the absolute best part of these articles is the comments sections where everyone talks about what they’re excited for. I’ve learned about so many musicians on here. Thanks, fellow AV Clubbers!

I would’ve gone with Moby: Dick.

Flying Lotus ft. Denzel Curry on ‘Black Balloon Reprise” slaps but it was still a missed opportunity to sample the Goo Goo Dolls.

If there’s another soul on A.V. Club who watched / loved / remembered Work of Art, this song reminds me of Abdi’s piece with the exploding heads in season 1.

Hell of a last few days for new music when the first new Vampire Weekend in 6 years isn’t even in my top 3 favorite things I’ve heard. I’m still digesting the fact that this Conor Oberst/Phoebe Bridgers project is an actual thing.

I mean yeah, the new James Blake is great, which was expected. But, after listening to it a dozen times, I had to listen to something else. So, very unassumingly I put on the new Sharon Van Etten. HOLY SHIT. I’d never listened to her before, what a shame. Remind Me Tomorrow is the best album of 2019.

The av club forums for Gotham, where many of the commenters were DC villain gimmick accounts, were definitely something

I can’t believe it’s already been 12 years since Masseduction.  I feel old.

Good news, everyone!

Nice call on First Aid Kit - forgot them off mine - and the EP is gold.

This entire comment is a praisejerk for Mitski’s Nobody but I haven’t done these in a long time so yeah:

I was 11 and so not exactly researching the movies I was going to see.  My head exploded twice in the opening 3 minutes when 1) I realized it wasn’t animated and 2) OMG, Raphael said “damn.”
